About

The word Sikh means student or follower. Sikhs are students and followers of the Sikh religion. They are direct descendants of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization in South Asia - one of the original four ancient civilizations.

Sikh religion is a battle-tested, time-tested, and proven philosophy that guides its 20-50 million enterprising and progressive followers all over the world today who constitute the Sikh religion.

Sikhs established their Kingdom twice - 1710-1715 and 1799-1849. They are regarded by historians as benevolent, just, and progressive Kingdoms.

Sikh Kingdom of Maharaja Ranjit Singh fell to the British Empire in 1849. The British Empire destroyed Sikhs agriculture forcing migration to the West. The British knowingly and systematically destroyed Sikhs education system which was more effective than they system they introduced. The British destroyed Sikligar Sikhs Wootz Steel industry to protect their inferior steel. The British Empire suppressed political movements in South Asia. The worst repression was reserved for the Sikhs as the British conquered the Sikh Kingdom and naturally worried about resurgence of the Sikhs.

As a result of this economic, educational, and political repression, the Sikhs could not mobilize to form their own Nation-State in 1947. Various Nations were bunched together with Hind/Hindustan to form ‘India’. There was no entity ‘India’ before 1947. Almost all of Sikh’s current predicament comes from this grave strategic blunder to not carve out of a Nation-State for themselves at the critical crossroad of History in 1947. Sikh’s greatest strategic and historical blunder was believing in false promises and becoming part of India in 1947. Efforts to undo this Historical injustice and aberration continue to this day.

This website is about Sikh Identity. Their identity is Sikh (ethno-religious), and Punjabi (regional, cultural, civilizational, and linguistic). Sikhs are not Indians. Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a concert of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh "A guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums." If the former Canadian Prime Minister recognizes distinctness of Punjab, you should too.

This website is about Sikh History: from establishing the Sikh religion, growth, and eventual Sovereignty twice in their two Sikh Kingdoms.

This website is about Sikh Philosophy of the Fifth Largest Religion in the World. Sikh philosophy and religion are also known as Sikhi.

This website does not aim to be a comprehensive book or an academic discourse. It does not highlight new aspects. It aims to serve the majority of the people who want an easy to read introduction to The Sikhs – their identity, history, and philosophy.
