Religion and Politics are inseparable for the Sikhs.
Religion and Politics are inseparable for the Sikhs from the time of Guru Nanak (1469-1539), the founder of Sikh religion.
Gurdwara is a social, economic, and political center of the Sikhs.
Politics, Nationalism, and State Power influence every aspect of our life. Why shouldn’t religion? Why this artificial separation?
Men of religion have duty to guide politics and constraint it. Politics and political leaders must be subservient to institutions of religion. Religious institutions are highest authority instead of political institutions.
Sikh way is for religion to have supreme authority over all domains spiritual and temporal (worldly).

The two flags joined together outside Gurdwaras signify Miri-Piri –
the King and the Saint is one.
It is also a proud and visual proclamation of oneness of religion and politics,
and supreme authority of religion over all domains spiritual and temporal (worldly).
